IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY IN THIS PREDICAMENT SERIOUSLY I DON'T MIND IF YOU SKIP TO THE END!!
I made the start point bold AND underlined
NO SERIOUSLY SCROLL.... SCROLL QUICKLY!!!!
Living on a farm something we battle with monthly is skunks. Skunks love eggs. LOVE eggs. Yet again this week we are battling with a little bugger and our egg count has decreased dramatically because he is like a child left alone with a huge chocolate cake.
I am all for hunting, but I don’t see the point in killing something if we aren’t going to eat it, it’s suffering, or it is a predator that will harm our livestock. I don’t know about you but I’m fairly certain skunk tastes awful and I don’t care to find out if it does or doesn’t lol! That being said we use a live trap to catch them and then relocate them to a animal habitat area. No matter how careful we are, there have been the occasional “Oops!”, and either the dog or my father-in-law were sprayed (yes I’m a wuss and will not attempt it myself 😂).
I learned of an amazing concoction for just this occasion from my Aunt who lives on a ranch in Wyoming (literally where the family homesteaded).
START HERE IF YOU HAVE BEEN SPRAYED
1. DO NOT USE TOMATO JUICE!!!!!!! It can actually make it stay!
2. Do not use water right away scrub the concoction on dry hair then rinse out with water!
Here's the concoction:
1 TBSP Dawn Dish Soap
1 Quart Hydrogen Peroxide
1/4 Cup baking soda
Mix all ingredients together and scrub the affected areas, DISCLAIMER: be careful to avoid eyes, nose and mouth (especially it’s your furry animals)!!! Take extra care to just clean the affected areas, once you’ve done a good scrub rinse thoroughly. You may have to repeat the process at least once more but it’s a blessing!!!
Science nerd fact:
A skunk’s spray is oil based. The hydrogen peroxide cuts the oil and allows it to be washed away!
